  • What are your training methods?
We are all about HAPPY and POLITE pets. We utliize Fear Free Positive Reinforcement Training in our day school and training services. Positive Reinforcement is a science based method that is designed to give your pet a positive environment to thrive without fear of punishment or hurtful collars. We teach all of the “basic obedience” skills you’re familiar with, and much more. Our head trainer is a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy, the Harvard of dog training schools with a love and connection for animals
  • Why do you suggest positive reinforcement training?
Positive reinformcement is a science based method that gives your pet the best positive environment to thrive. Other methods may create an environment of fear, pain and/or anxiety which is not good for any living species. Punishment may create fear and can increase agressive behavior. When mistakes are punished, learners may give the minmum necessary to stay out of trouble. We want our animals to anticpate good things to come during Day School and Training sessions. We know for a fact that pets thrive around fun and positivity. Pets just want love and happiness for everyone including their owner and the pet themselves.
  • What does my dog learn at Day School?
Each session at day school gives your dog the opportunity to socialize with other dogs in a safe and fun environment. All dogs that come to Day School must be up to date on vaccinations in order to particpate. Dogs will work socialization skills, mental stimulation through games and puzzles made specific for dogs, and physical excercise through play time, walks and training.
  • What is required to join Day School?
Applicants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis; space is limited for our daycare. Once you are registered online, please schedule your Day School Meet & Greet, you will be able to schedule online or contact us (phone or email). Before enrolling your pet in the day school for any of our services you will need to complete your registration and submit a copy of the needed vaccinations. Once your application has been submitted, we will schedule your dog for a Day School Meet & Greet. Your dog will enjoy multiple activities each day at school. They will actually be using their brains with games and puzzles, agility, or enjoying a nice relaxing trail walk. For dogs that do not enjoy our center, we do offer in home daily dog walking and dog training. Day School Attendees Must Have the Following: Current vaccination records for Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, & Bordetella. Puppies (typically 12 weeks of age or older) must have completed all puppy shots prior to daycare. Pass a temperament assessment during the meet & greet prior to beginning day school. Must be on flea and heartworm preventative.
  • What makes you different to other doggy daycares?
We are a daycare school. So there is learning involved as well. First, while socialization is an important aspect of a dog's life, ongoing training is as well. Socialization is part of the school day, in addition our clients also work on basic obedience and manners. We develop a specific program and schedule for each animal to ensure the best possible success. It is important to be consistent when raising a happy dog therefore keeping owners happy.
  • Is it too late to start training my dog?
Although some adult dogs might learn more slowly, it's never too late to teach an older dog to listen and obey. Some adult dogs might even learn better because they're less distracted than when they were puppies. Whether you're retraining a dog who needs to unlearn some undesirable habits or you're training an older dog for the first time, it's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks.
  • Will my dog be trained after one session? How many sessions do I need to book?
Training your dog is an investment and a process. Results vary dog to dog. Of course we want quick results, however we want reliable and positively reinforced behavior even more. It is also important to note that ONE training session cannot solve, train, un-learn or re-teach a list of behaviors. Our best advice is to book a consultation and we will be happy to advise you on the best plan of action for your dog.
  • What happens on a drop in visit?
During a standard drop in visit, includes feeding, play time, and time outside. During an extended drop in visit, includes feeding, play time, a walk, and time outside. We recommend booking a Pet Sitting Meet & Greet to meet our pet sitter and create a plan for taking the best care of your pet(s).
  • What are your health and safety practices?
Health and safety is of utmost importance to us. We do everything in our power to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment. All dogs must be current on all of their vaccinations, at all times, and provide proof of vaccinations. This includes DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies. The Bark Bus Van is cleaned and sanitized continuously throughout the day with safe, pet-friendly disinfectants, to ensure the top level of cleanliness. Water bowls and toys are washed, cleaned, and disinfected daily.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
There is a 48-hour cancellation policy in effect for all services. With more than 48 hours notice before the start of your appointment, your appointment or reservation may be rescheduled. No credit, refund, or rescheduling can occur with less than 48 hours notice.
